Adam Lambert was criticized last week for being a bit too over-the-top with his strange, almost creepy rendition of "Lake of Fire", but Adam proved with last night's performance that he is the one to beat.
With his his quiff type pompadour and gray suit, Adam bore a strong resemblance to Elvis. His interpretation was smooth, tender, and impressive, and it was definitely the best performance of the night. It earned a standing ovation from guest mentor Smokey Robinson, who originally performed the classic song with the Miracles in 1965.
Simon - “It was THE best performance of the night. You tonight really have emerged as a star.”
